Dreaming of Shangri-La
Starting as a small sketch in fabric and thread of sunlight on the autumn slopes, this piece became a large hanging with the little sketch as focal point in the embrace of clouds.
The image as seen here shows a detail of the piece whose central section was built up in painted and printed hand stitched layers. Isolating a small area of cloud from the central section, this detail was then enlarged in Photoshop, inkjet printed onto cotton and applied to a calico ground before the whole was further stitched into by hand.
