Holkham Bay Poem



Companion piece to the mixed media triptych, the poem expresses the thoughts and emotions aroused in me by that experience of wind and weather and the part this day played in my life's story at the time. 

The long, narrow format of the embroidery, with dark threads at the top, was intended to mirror the experience of the afternoon when solidity seemed to reside not in the whirling, uncertain ground beneath but in the pressing weight of the sky above.
