Star-Spark, Etoile-Etincelle.




This little book, three aspects of which are shown here, arose from following a short course in making artists' books at Tate Modern, London.


Making a star-like form when opened, materials used include painted, layered and cut papers.  A soldering iron was employed in the creation of some pages.  Wording reads:

Sparks of pain
slash my flesh
 flood my brain:
but I turn
the red burn
to a white flight
star- bright:
blue flame scores the light
illumines the night:
je caresse l'étoile.
